About StillKim

There’s something about seeing yourself standing in front of your mature daughter on her wedding day that forces one to reflect.

Time passes.

Quickly.

OMG, I look like my mother!

But I am still here, and now deep into. my sixth decade, I am feeling like I am getting ready to launch, again!

Hopefully a bit wiser than when I wore the gown and veil, but still feeling like a whole new era is beginning in my life.

My career began in journalism, working as a weekly newspaper reporter, then a brief stint as editor. Following the birth of two children, I switched sides and embarked on a career in public relations eventually launching my own agency before I entered teaching at a community college. Probably the toughest career switch and one where I became the pupil again, both figuratively and literally as I pursued a Masters in Communications Technology.

Then retirement and a world pandemic combined in 2020 to give me time to complete a book, a memoir of my parents’ 54-year marriage.

Writing has been a constant in my life.

Now, I still have things to learn, I still spend much time in my inner world reflecting on what I hear and see around me, I still have much to say…

Thus, Still was born, where I can reflect, and even more importantly, I can share the perspectives and stories of other women who are still learning, teaching, and inspiring the rest of us.

I hope you enjoy the journey as I share what’s ahead.

About My Collaborators

Getting to the point of launching my blog was not a solo journey, and I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the women who helped me through several iterations of blog development.

Colleagues Taran Kaur Chawla and Carolyn McLeod were instrumental at the start when I conceived my vision. Carolyn was the expertise behind the camera for my photo shoot, a fun evening that resulted in several professional images I felt good about sharing here. (I usually hate photos of myself!) Carolyn also made the StillKim logo design a class assignment for her college students which provided me with several options and the class a chance to learn how to listen to a client’s vision and turn that into a visual component. Congratulations to student Eloise Marier who created the winning design. Finally, an award of “Most Patient” belongs to Katy Boose who worked with me through several site design versions as well as updated my technical skills to prepare me for my final launch.

It’s a happy chance that my final product is the result of several women contributing their expertise as I journeyed from concept to launch. I believe it is important for professional women to support and uplift each other.
